Gary Player Country Club-Sun City

Gary Player Country Club-Sun City

It seems as though Mr Player has a few fingers in quite a few pies so to speak, but I suppose when your good at something you just keep going; and that’s exactly what he did when he created, alongside Ron Kirby, the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City. Of course being among SA’s best courses the GPCC is a championship course, 18 holes of pristine splendour with water holes breaking the rolling carpet link fairways await the avid golfer.

The course is currently ranked as the No.2 course in SA and is used in the Nedbank Challenge where a host of the worlds best golfers visit annually, including  past winners such as Ernie Els, Sevvy Ballersteros, Ian Woosnam, Nick Price and Sergio Garcia. Join the ranks and take a swing at what many regard as demanding and difficult course. Although is fairly flat the 7000 metres of course is booby-trapped with water hazards and bunkers cunningly sited around the course; more than making up for the loss of gradient.

The signature hole is perhaps the 9th, with a challenging and tempting island green, many try their luck with a second ball…will you?

Leopard Creek Golf Course

Leopard Creek Golf Course

Leopard Creek Golf Course is one of South Africa’s top golf course easily slipping into the top five considered in the top three in fact. There is stiff competition for this honoured acknowledgment within the boundaries of South Africa as every body knows that the Rainbow Nation is vast and possesses and wide selection of terrain and beauty, all things that swing together to create a course of wonder.

Leopard Creek was designed by Gary Player and today sits as a championship course with 6723 metres of lush green fairway neighbouring the Kruger National Park. This neighbour is a huge benefit to the course as strict rules were enforced during construction, the primary being that the course had to blend into the surroundings and leave the wildlife environment undisturbed; and that it has done.

The 18 holes are a golf-nature-watchers paradise with stunning birdlife and hazards of a different nature. Of course water holes are in abundance with streams and so on creating a golfing challenge, but it’s not these I want to talk about, it’s the hippo’s, croc’s, buffalo, boar’s and antelope that create a new dimension for any player to negotiate.

Simply put it’s a wonderful venue with facilities to match such as; a pro shop, driving range, hire of clubs and carts, caddies with good knowledge of the course and pull trolleys, the par is 72 go see what you shoot.

The newly upgraded golf course is fit for champions and has Crenshaw Bent grass greens. The course measures 6 071 with a 71 par. What makes this beautiful course stand out head and shoulders above other courses in South Africa is the magnificent flora.

Plan a Corporate Golf Day

Plan a Corporate Golf Day

Organizing a corporate golf day can help with business relations. It does not just need to be for clients, but can also include employees and suppliers. This will make them feel valued and part of the team. You can even arrange a dinner for after the golf day, where they can bring their wives or partners.

Selecting a venue is important, as you need it to impress and cater for the needs you have. You must also book in advance and make the arrangements so that people can mark it on their calendars.

An information pack will need to be sent out to the guests so that they know what is happening on the day and any requirements like dress code.

You can personalize your golf day by arranging apparel with the corporate logo on. You can even hand out prizes over a dinner.

It is a great way to interact with business relations and is more relaxed.

Have fun on your golf day.

What is Golf?

Golf is a game of precision that a player uses a club to strike a ball. The aim of the sport is to hit your ball into the hole.

There are 18 holes to play on a golf course. Each hole comes with a par. This is how many strikes the particular hole usually takes to complete.

There are different types of golf clubs that cater to the different needs that a golfer might experience on a golf course. A golfer is allowed no more then fourteen clubs in his bag. Each club is of various lengths, different densities of the head and loft of face. A golfer uses a putter when they are playing on the greens.

A golf course will have various obstacles that will challenge a golfer. These can include water hazards, bunkers and the rough. A golfer therefore needs great accuracy to be able to drive the ball from the tee area down towards the hole.

In golf competitions, the game is for the lowest number of strokes by an individual. This is called stroke play. The person with the lowest strokes will be named the winner.

If playing a proper game of golf is not your thing, then there is also miniature golf. Families and friends can have funny on these mini holes that usually feature fun and interesting obstacles.

Golf can be a highly competitive sport and can be thoroughly enjoyed by many.
